- Birmingham Public Library, Birmingham, Alabama: February 23, 2012, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. James, Arnetta, and Wash will talk about their experiences, and I will talk about writing their stories. The public is invited.
- Birmingham Public Schools, Birmingham, Alabama: February 24, 2012. I will talk with elementary and middle-school students about the Children’s March in their hometown.
- The George Washington Carver Museum in Austin, Texas: March 4, 2012, 3:00 p.m. I will talk about writing WE’VE GOT A JOB. The public is invited.
- Busboys and Poets in Washington, DC on March 13, 2012. Come one, come all!
- Washington, DC public and private schools, March 12-14, 2012. I will talk about writing We’ve Got a Job.
- University of Delaware College of Education and Human Development, Newark, Delaware: April 25, 2012. I will conduct a Reader’s Theater on the Children’s March with teachers.
- International Reading Association, Chicago, Illinois: April 30, 2012. I will make a presentation on ”The REAL Hero’s Journey: Using Nonfiction Stories About Children in the Civil Rights Movement to Teach Social Justice and Narrative Arc.”
- Lone Star College, Cypress, Texas, June 19, 2012. I’ll talk with kids at CyFair’s Summer Reading Program.
